Description

The DME delivery driver, under the supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager, is responsible for operating a vehicle to deliver Oxygen tanks to facilities and equipment to patients and to other Zufall sites. The driver is responsible for the safety of the vehicle, doing checks before and after vehicle use, and managing regular maintenance of the vehicle. Most importantly, the PDD supports the mission and vision of the Zufall Health Center.

• Keeps manager or supervisor informed of work-related­ issues at all times.

Specific Duties

Interaction with Patients

• Loads vehicle and delivers oxygen and DME in a timely manner and to the correct address and/or site as per the manifest.
• Deliver, set up, and effectively instruct patients, and family member(s), caregiver(s) on the proper use of the equipment in a professional and timely manner.
• Clean, maintain, and repair (if applicable) all equipment according to manufacturer’s IFU’s.
• Provides timely and accurate completion of deliveries while ensuring great customer experience.
• Establishes and maintains an excellent relationship with customers
• Operates vehicle safely at all times and notifies their supervisor of any safety related issues immediately.
• Provides valid signatures for proof of items delivered.
• Completes inspection of vehicle and communicates any repairs needed to their supervisor.
• Managing of the vehicle regarding: Maintaining, cleanliness, and organization at all times.
• Communicates and collaborates with the Medical Equipment Manager
• Maintain a good driving record.
• Follow and obey all local, state and federal traffic laws.
  
  

Communication

• Maintains patients’ confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as stated in the ZHC policies and procedures manual.
• Answers inquiries of patients and public in person or via telephone regarding regulations and services; when necessary, refers inquiries to appropriate person or department.
• Reads, writes, speaks, understands, and communicates in English and Spanish sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
  
  

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Possesses a NJ Driver’s license to be able to operate vehicles.
• Have excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Possesses good organizational skills.
• Have the ability to be flexible to change.
• Has the ability to work independently.
• Have great attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt and learn in the rapidly changing environment of healthcare.
• Be able to understand, carry out, and remember verbal and written instructions.
• Bilingual English and Spanish required.
  
  

Education, Training And Experience

• High School diploma required; college credit or additional education in medical field or insurance and billing courses preferred
• Possess a current, unrestricted New Jersey Driver’s license issued by the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles and pass an annual background driving record check.
• Have a minimum of 1 year experience in the customer service field.
• Experience in a clinical/ambulatory care setting preferred
  
  

Salary Description

$21.50-$24.92 per hour
