Zuern Building Products & Design Center is actively seeking a full time Residential Estimator. Zuern Building Products & Design Center is a family-owned and operated building material supplier and design company. Job Summary:
Prepares highly accurate estimates and material lists based on construction blueprints and specifications in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This list is not all-inclusive and may be expanded as management deems necessary.
- Create highly accurate material takeoffs on various plans (new construction, remodels, additions) through our in-house estimating software
- Size joists, beams, and headers using manufacturer software
- Work closely with Estimating team members
- Collaborate with Account Managers and Coordinators to ensure takeoffs align with project requirements
- Willingness to listen carefully and comprehend instructions and feedback
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- General working knowledge of the residential construction process and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints with strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow specific, detailed instructions
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in basic math and computer applications
- Professional, reliable, and self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a residential estimator, take-off specialist, or in a similar construction-related role
- Associate degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
- Proficiency with estimating or design software (e.g., PlanSwift, iStruct, or similar tools)
- Familiarity with engineered wood products, truss systems, and residential framing practices
- Knowledge of advanced building codes, energy efficiency standards, and sustainable construction practices
