Position Overview
The Fleet Operations Manager partners closely with the Vice President of Operations to manage day-to-day fleet activities, drive operational efficiency, and ensure full compliance with all transportation regulations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining fleet readiness, performance, and service quality.
Key Responsibilities of an Operations Manager:
- Support the Vice President of Operations in managing daily transportation and fleet operations
- Oversee fleet activities including maintenance coordination, dispatch support, and vehicle scheduling
- Ensure all vehicles and drivers meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements
- Manage vehicle repair workflows and prioritize maintenance needs
- Track fleet inventory, audits, and vehicle lifecycle processes (onboarding and retirement)
- Analyze operational and performance data to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead, coach, and support operational staff
- Address operational challenges and customer concerns in a professional and timely manner
Qualifications of an Operations Manager:
- Prior experience in fleet management or transportation operations
- Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements
- Knowledge of transportation compliance and regulatory standards
- Proficiency with fleet management or transportation software systems
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License
