Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and other payment methods with precision and integrity
- Upsell products and promote store promotions or loyalty programs to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, restocking supplies as needed
- Conduct product demos when required to showcase features or new merchandise
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
Requirements
- Previous cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse customer needs
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and balancing registers accurately
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Excellent phone etiquette for assisting customers over the phone or through digital channels
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible hours as needed
