Overview
Summer Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment for campers ages 5–14. Counselors are responsible for supervising campers, leading activities, and ensuring all camp policies and safety procedures are followed.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that requires energy, responsibility, and a passion for working with children and animals. Counselors must demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a strong commitment to camper and animal safety at all times.
Responsibilities
- Supervise campers at all times during camp activities
- Lead and assist with games, crafts, enrichment, and animal encounters
- Ensure campers follow all camp rules and safety procedures
- Provide guidance and manage camper behavior appropriately
- Maintain a positive, safe, and structured environment
- Assign tasks and assist volunteers as needed
- Communicate important updates or concerns to the Camp Director
- Provide proper notice for any schedule changes or absences
Requirements
- Must be available May 25–29
- Reliable transportation to and from camp each day
- Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid weather for extended periods
- Physically able to stay active (walking, running, lifting light supplies, engaging with campers)
- Comfortable working closely with animals of various species
- Experience working with children (preferred but not required)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Must be responsible, dependable, and punctual
- Positive attitude and willingness to participate in all camp activities
- Ability to follow directions and enforce rules and safety procedures
- Willingness to undergo training and follow all camp policies
