Who We Are Looking For:
The Seasonal Technician installs and maintains lighting and audio effects and scenic elements for the Zoo’s Seasonal Programming and permanent shows. Additionally, the position serves as liaison to external contractors working on-site for Seasonal Experience projects.
Assists in the safe operation and maintenance of sound, lighting, rigging, and related equipment and systems used in support of seasonal experiences; performs related duties as required.
Working outside in all weather conditions, this position will be a part of delivering the amazing experiences the Philadelphia Zoo is known for.
What You Will Do:
- Install lighting and audio effects
- Install scenic elements
- May be asked to install/execute based on an artistic rendering
- Will work in year-round weather conditions
- Monitor the condition of equipment, including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; notify supervisor of the need to repair and replacement equipment.
- Maintains and troubleshoots Zoo’s theater systems, keeper chat audio, and special event equipment.
- Utilize proper safety practices and procedures.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area at all
- Maintains an organized off-site warehouse and keeps thorough inventory of Seasonal Experience equipment and other department assets.
- Attend and contribute to vendor meetings and walk-throughs as-needed.
What This Role Requires:
- Ability to work at heights up to 60’
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools
- Comfortable working around animals
- Must be able to train on and safely use heavy equipment
- Experience with lighting and sound equipment a plus
- Ability to execute from an artistic rendering a plus
- Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license
Physical, Medical and Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of a post-offer criminal background check prior to starting work including, but not limited to FBI fingerprinting and Child Abuse History Clearance.
