If you have strong dental radiography knowledge and enjoy helping others build confidence in their clinical skills, this is an opportunity to put your experience to work in a hands-on teaching environment.

What You’ll Get

  • Paid preparation, grading, documentation, required meetings, training, and work-related communication
  • Part-time teaching with opportunities to progress into Lead Instructor, Regional Trainer, or Program Manager roles

What You’ll Teach

You'll deliver hands-on dental radiography instruction and help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to perform radiographic procedures safely and professionally.

You’ll:

  • Teach radiation safety, infection control, equipment safety, and exposure-control principles
  • Demonstrate patient preparation, positioning, radiographic equipment operation, image acquisition, and image evaluation
  • Coach students during hands-on practice and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Evaluate student knowledge and skills through quizzes, examinations, practical assessments, and competency checkoffs
  • Help students improve image quality and reduce positioning, exposure, processing, and handling errors
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, competency records, and other required documentation
  • Maintain a safe, organized, positive, and professional classroom and laboratory environment
  • Communicate student progress, concerns, equipment needs, and safety issues to program leadership
  • Participate in required onboarding, training, meetings, observations, calibration, continuing education, and feedback sessions

  • What We’re Looking For

To teach this course in North Carolina, you must meet the required credentialing and approval requirements.

    Required:

    • Successful completion of, and current certification through, the UNC Instructor Radiology Course required to teach dental X-rays
    • Current approval to teach dental radiography in North Carolina, as accepted and verified by Zollege
    • High school diploma or equivalent, plus any education, experience, credentials, and approvals required by applicable North Carolina regulatory or accrediting bodies
    • Current dental credential, license, registration, or certification appropriate to your professional pathway and the approved course
    • At least 3 years of recent dental-field experience; 5 years is strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of dental radiography, radiation safety, image quality, infection control, patient positioning, equipment operation, and related clinical procedures
    • Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain it within the required timeframe
    • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and demonstrate clinical skills to adult learners
    • Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail
    • Basic computer proficiency
    • Ability to collaborate professionally with students, coworkers, and partner-site personnel
    • Ability to complete required pre-employment and continuing requirements, including background check, credential verification, immunization and TB documentation, drug screening, and any site-specific clearance

    Teaching Experience Is a Plus

You don't need to have spent your entire career in education, but the following experience is especially valuable:

    • Radiology instruction
    • Dental assisting instruction
    • Dental hygiene instruction
    • Clinical education
    • Training or mentoring
    • Precepting
    • Teaching adult learners
    • Hands-on laboratory or career-school instruction
    • Competency-based assessment or student documentation

    The Schedule

    This is a part-time position.

Teaching typically takes place on weekends and may include extended class days, accelerated radiology sessions, or occasional evening instruction.

Class sessions may last six to eight hours with scheduled breaks. Additional paid preparation, grading, documentation, communication, meetings, and training may occur outside scheduled class hours.

All time worked must be recorded and will be paid.
