Platinum Performance was founded in 1996 by renowned equine veterinarian, Dr. Doug Herthel to support his cases in veterinary practice. From its earliest days, the company has held a strong commitment to veterinarians and the highest respect for their role in guiding the health, wellness and performance of the horse. For 25 years, Platinum Performance, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Zoetis, has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing premium nutritional product formulas for wellness and athletic performance in horses as well as a range of pet care brands and human nutritional supplements.
The Associate Director of Equine Marketing is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of the strategic marketing plan for digital and print communications as well as events and sponsorships for the Platinum Performance equine line of nutritional formulas. This person will lead a team of equine marketing employees including marketing managers and coordinators, overseeing the content development, brand execution and sponsorships with athletes, brand ambassadors and associations in the equine and veterinary space, ensuring the Platinum brand is represented in line with the standards and core values.
Responsibilities
- Develops the annual operational marketing plan (email and print) and objectives for all equine markets and segments including veterinarians, clients, stales/prospects and various member associations.
- Assesses and coaches the team by providing consistent and ongoing feedback to develop competencies and exceed goals.
- Serves as Editor in Chief of Platinum Magazine, a nationally distributed quarterly publication, outlining editorial content and approves final articles and artwork, budget associated with the development, printing and mailing of each issue.
- Leads the team in the development of prioritized digital journeys and gives final approval on all digital efforts including email, advertising, and content opportunities.
- Oversees execution of the direct mail plan (including catalogs, magazines, postcards, and other mailings) including printing, mailing and final artwork approval.
- Leads team that produces equine print projects including catalogs, white papers, product flyers, price lists, compendium of nutrition research, new client materials, product packaging, athlete signage, mailers/brochures, responsible for final approval of each of these efforts.
- Oversees and approves the strategic Platinum Performance equine veterinary and client events calendar including staffing, travel detail approval, booth materials, marketing assets, awards and special events.
- Represents Platinum Performance at tradeshows and events periodically.
- Develops /maintains relationships with associations, sponsorships, sponsored and endorsees.
- Responsible for final approval of photography selection, photo/video shoots and other marketing assets.
- Collaborates with the Tech Team to develop tools and methods to profile and segment clients for target marketing and improve the client experience with the brand.
- Collaborates with the E-Comm Team to ensure content is continually optimized to reach desired equine client target.
- Leads the team to plan, manage and coordinate all aspects of the annual AAEP convention strategy and oversees participation in regional and local equine veterinary meetings and equine client events.
- Oversees the development of new product launch plans including forecast and campaign development.
- Authorizes content, articles and interviews regarding organization's promotional activities ensuring adherence to review standards.
- Analyzes, interprets, and complies with government and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains budget for Equine Marketing costs affiliated with all printing and mailing, digital development, promotional items, tradeshow expenses, sponsorships, etc.

Education and/or Experience
- BS/BA required.
- 10-12 years related marketing experience and demonstrated success in brand and content development, multichannel marketing, communications.
- Knowledge of equine industry and nutritional products preferred.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks utilizing a wide degree of creativity and attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent leadership, organization and communication skills required.
