Job Summary:
Collects and prepares blood samples for laboratory testing. Enters collections of such specimens in lab information system. Assists medical technologists and/or pathologists in performing designated laboratory tests. Assists with maintaining laboratory equipment and records following established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards. .
Responsibilities:
- Uses skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples.
- Follows defined process in obtaining samples including verifying patient information, labeling specimen vials, and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Disposes of contaminated needles in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies. Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into appropriate system(s).
- Processes specimens according to established guidelines.
- Organizes blood-drawing trays, ensuring that all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, or related items are of first-time use.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Requirements:
- 2 Years of MLS Experience -[REQUIRED]

- BLS (AHA or Red Cross) - [REQUIRED]
- Travel - [PREFERRED]
Pay: $1,800.00 - $2,000.00 per week
