Job Description
GENERAL OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the After School Program Manager, the After School Program (ASP) Group Leader will provide homework assistance to students in the ASP and will lead engaging academic and enrichment activities with a designated group of students. Essentially, the ASP Group Leader will provide opportunities for students to develop & strengthen scholastic and social skills.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist children with homework assignments daily
- Lead organized learning activities for students to develop and strengthen their academic and social skills
- Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events
- As needed, differentiate lessons and activities to ensure that they are appropriate for students with various abilities
- As needed, review program work plans with Manager for effective program implementation
- Inspect the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries
- Interact professionally and appropriately with parents and staff
- Participate in mandatory staff meetings and on-going training opportunities
- Perform related office duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required, First & Second Year College Students welcome
- Excellent Math, English & Communication Skills
- Minimum 1-year experience working with diverse youth in an organized setting
- Ability to play and teach chess
- Expertise in Computers and Technology is a plus
- Health Screening/TB Clearance Required
- Background/Fingerprint Clearance Required
- Must be 18 years of age or older (As mandated by New York State Office of Children and Family Services)
- COVID-19 Vaccinated (As mandated by the Board of Education)
