Role Description The Certified Medical Assistant role at ZMC is a full-time, on-site position based in Royal Oak, MI. This role includes rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist providers with clinical tasks, perform basic laboratory tests as allowed by certification, manage medical records, and help maintain exam rooms and equipment. Daily duties also include scheduling follow-up appointments, handling patient communications, updating the electronic medical record, and supporting smooth patient flow in the medical office.
Qualifications
- Strong Medical Assisting skills with experience supporting providers in a clinical setting
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology to accurately document and communicate clinical information
- Familiarity with Medical Office procedures, workflows, and front/back office coordination
- Ability to deliver safe, respectful Patient Care, including vitals, histories, and patient education
- Competence in managing Medical Records, preferably in an electronic health record (EHR) system
- Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) credential and current BLS/CPR certification
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinic
- Effective, inclusive communication skills and ability to work well with diverse patients and colleagues
- Previous experience in an outpatient or primary care setting is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assistant program required
