About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. This role is a key technical and customer-facing position supporting our mobile chemical treatment units at frac sites across the region. The ideal candidate will bring practical field experience, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to solving problems in fast-paced environments.
You’ll work closely with customer frac crews, provide operational training, ensure optimal performance of our equipment, and represent ZL Chemicals as a trusted technical partner in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the day-to-day technical support at frac sites for ZL Chemicals’ mobile chemical treatment units.
- Build strong relationships with frac crew staff, offering frequent on-site support for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Oversee operational training of customer frac crews at various locations of customer frac crew staff at a number of frac sites.
- Understand all aspects of mobile chemical treatment units to perform basic troubleshooting and corrective actions to be accomplished.
- Have an ability to install, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in our units such as:
- Flow meters
- Pressure transducers
- Level and rotating sensors
- Electric motors, pumps, and augers
- Data acquisition systems
- Complete regional preventative maintenance schedules and document findings.
- Ensure frac site daily reports are written and reported to the supervisor in a timely basis.
- Communicate improvement ideas and customer feedback to the regional supervisor.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a junior field technician or service role within the oil and gas industry.
- An understanding and experience working at frac sites in the USA for oil and gas service companies
- Ability to disassemble, repair, and maintain motors, pumps, and sensors etc.
- Understanding of electronic systems, principles, and circuits.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work under time pressures.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record and willingness to travel to different job sites across the region and beyond. Estimated field travel time is approximately 70%.
- Ability to pass the company's drug and alcohol test.
