Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laboratory Technician to join our tank cleaning analysis and wastewater treatment team. The ideal candidate will assist in sampling, analyzing, and reporting various samples from different job sites in the oil and gas as well as wastewater spaces. This role plays a critical part in accurately applying a treatment program to the different samples and accurately identifying possible hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze wastewater, sludge, effluent, and oil samples using standard laboratory methods
- Perform tests including chemical dosing, neutralization, oil extraction, TSS, pH, and other industry methods
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Maintain accurate laboratory sample logging and records
- Assist with reporting results to the laboratory manager
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, safety, and proper disposal of chemical waste
- Support operational staff with process troubleshooting and special studies
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate's degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science preferred)
- Must possess basic computer, mathematics, and science skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and quality control practices
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work under minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Experience in a water or wastewater laboratory setting
- Familiarity with EPA and ASTM Standard Methods
Physical Demands:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking during sample collection, preparation, testing, and equipment calibration
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, such as chemical containers or laboratory equipment
- Working in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and laboratory hazards, while adhering to safety protocols
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, and respirators as necessary
