This role leads the design, development, and delivery of Ziosk’s modern cloud payment gateway and cloud native integration layer enabling connectivity with modern POS platforms.
The Main Course – Responsibilities
- Own engineering on time delivery, quality, scalability, security, high-availability, and fault-tolerant performance of Ziosk’s cloud payment enabling applications, platforms, and infrastructure.
- Software Engineering & Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor senior software engineers, architects, and engineering managers, including all supervisory duties for staffing and performance management
- Establish and enforce engineering standards for Code quality, testing, and review, inclusive of secure‑by‑design development
- Champion and guide team in responsible use of AI to improve engineering productivity, quality, an operational insight.
- Own engineering readiness and successful completion of PCI SSS and other certification
- Champion the responsible use of AI to improve engineering productivity, capacity, velocity, quality, and operational insight, including AI‑supported coding, refactoring, and debugging, automated test generation and coverage analysis, and AI‑assisted documentation and architecture discovery while establishing guardrails for AI usage in security‑sensitive systems.
- Making and meeting software engineering delivery while driving cross-functional alignment, delivery and execution, translating business goals (new POS integrations, cloud adoption, revenue enablement) into clear engineering roadmaps and execution plans.
- Communicate delivery risks, architectural tradeoffs, and investment needs clearly to executive leadership.
- Software Engineering & Architecture: Deep experience building cloud‑native, distributed systems in production; Strong understanding of payment systems, transactional integrity, and high‑availability architectures; Ability to guide architectural decisions without needing to be the primary implementer.
- Security & Compliance: Experience delivering systems subject to security standards and certifications (e.g., PCI‑related frameworks); Strong instincts for designing systems that are secure, auditable, and certifiable.
- AI & Modern Engineering Practices: Working knowledge of AI‑assisted software development tools and workflows; Ability to identify high‑leverage AI use cases while avoiding risk in safety‑critical domains; Experience applying AI to improve developer productivity and operational insight without sacrificing quality.
- Leadership & Systems Thinking: Proven ability to lead multi‑team engineering organizations, including contractors; Experience operating at Director altitude, balancing strategy, execution, and people leadership; Strong communicator capable of aligning engineers, product leaders, and executives around complex technical goals.
