POSITION: Paraprofessional Classroom Support
LOCATION: Zinser
HOURS: 4 Hours per Day
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday
START DATE/CALENDAR: ASAP/ per the 2025-26 District Calendar
SALARY/BENEFITS: As outlined in KHSSA Collective Bargaining Agreement
PURPOSE:
The intent of this assignment is to provide supervision during recess periods, occasionally lunch, during the school day and to provide classroom support to the teaching staff in between recess periods.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Must meet paraprofessional requirements under federal guidelines (one of the following):
- Associate’s degree or higher, OR
- Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR
- ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score of 460 or higher
- Experience working with Pre-K–12 students preferred
- Ability to use age-appropriate tone, language, and strategies with students, including those with diverse needs
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Supervise students during recess and/or lunch, ensuring safety, appropriate behavior, and inclusion
- Support classroom instruction and routines under the direction of the teacher
- Assist in maintaining a structured and positive learning environment
- Support students with behavioral needs, including:
- Reinforcing expectations
- Redirecting behavior
- Supporting students during dysregulation as needed
- Follow established routines while demonstrating flexibility based on student and building needs
- Collaborate effectively as part of an instructional team
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance as an essential function of the position
- Complete assigned documentation or paperwork as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to respond to student needs, including supporting behavior and ensuring student safety
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and responsive in a fast-paced and active environment
