What are the responsibilities and job description for the Control Systems Engineer position at ZINK HOLDINGS GROUP?
Zink, Whitsett, NC is now hiring a Process Control Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team.
The successful candidate will contribute to supporting manufacturing, performance excellence, production engineering projects, and maintenance of site-wide control systems. This position will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and improvement of process control systems in production areas, including the chemical plant, coating plant, and finishing department. This position is expected to support projects and day-to-day activities.
Processes at ZINK include mixing, blending, grinding, temperature control, flow control, batch processing, material handling, winding, web transportation, drying, laser inspection, converting, finishing, and packaging.
A control system migration project is underway in the coating plant.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working with DCS, PLC, and inspection systems along with associated IT equipment.
- Support control system life cycle management projects.
- Daily production support and continual improvement of process control systems.
- Understanding of (but not limited to) P&IDs, process flow diagrams, cable schedules, termination drawings, and construction documents.
- Maintain process standards and procedures, review proposed standards, and test plans prior to implementation.
- Maintain, modify, and improve control logic.
- Maintain and install AC & DC drives.
- Assist in determination of electrical classification of process areas, including power requirements, power distribution schemes etc. for process control equipment.
- Mentoring and training electrical technicians and maintenance staff.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Computer/Electrical/Mechanical engineering or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience OR a technical diploma in a related field with 6 years of relevant experience.
- Good working knowledge of process chemistry, PLCs, DCS, process control systems and instrumentation, algorithms and programming, and computers.
- Specific knowledge of the following is desired:
- Yokogawa CENTUM DCS
- Allen Bradley PLC
- GE PLC
- Wonderware
- Chemical batch processing or web transportation experience is desired.
- Programming knowledge and experience with AutoCAD is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Visio is desired.
- An attitude of working in a dynamic environment.
- The ability to learn and grow through challenges.
