Engine & Powertrain Sourcing Specialist

Zing Recruiting, in partnership with a leading automotive manufacturer in Savannah, GA, is seeking an Engine & Powertrain Sourcing Specialist to join their team! This is a full-time role offering relocation assistance and opportunities to work with cutting-edge EV and ICE powertrain technologies.

Engine & Powertrain Sourcing Specialist Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end sourcing activities: RFI/RFP/RFQ, bid packages, bidder conferences, and proposal analysis.
• Negotiate LTAs, tooling, and part pricing; apply should-cost models.
• Build and manage multi-year supply bases; maintain accurate supplier databases.
• Drive program milestones and launch gates; ensure ISIR/PPAP adherence for part development.
• Lead cost-reduction initiatives and risk mitigation to ensure on-time, on-quality, on-cost launches.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration (Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Procurement).
• Establish target quality levels; implement countermeasures for problematic parts/suppliers.
• Apply APQP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis; ensure supplier readiness and capacity planning.
• Analyze piece price, tooling cost, and total landed cost; create data-driven sourcing strategies.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Accounting (required).
• 2–5 years in automotive purchasing, supplier development, or program management (OEM or Tier 1) preferred.
• Proven experience launching engine/transmission or EV powertrain components with on-time PPAP.
• Track record negotiating LTAs, achieving cost-down targets, and stabilizing mass-production supply.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, die casting, welding, assembly, paint, chroming, surface treatments, foaming, SMC, extrusion, SMT).
• Fluent in English; bilingual in Korean or Spanish preferred.
• Certifications (preferred): Lean/Six Sigma, CQI, ISM CPSM, APQP/PPAP training.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills; thrives in fast-paced environments.
