Engine & Powertrain Sourcing Specialist Job Summary
- Relocation: Available
- Travel: Domestic & International (supplier audits, launches, conferences)
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities: RFI/RFP/RFQ, bid packages, bidder conferences, and proposal analysis.
- Negotiate LTAs, tooling, and part pricing; apply should-cost models.
- Build and manage multi-year supply bases; maintain accurate supplier databases.
- Drive program milestones and launch gates; ensure ISIR/PPAP adherence for part development.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives and risk mitigation to ensure on-time, on-quality, on-cost launches.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration (Engineering, Quality, Production Planning, Procurement).
- Establish target quality levels; implement countermeasures for problematic parts/suppliers.
- Apply APQP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis; ensure supplier readiness and capacity planning.
- Analyze piece price, tooling cost, and total landed cost; create data-driven sourcing strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Accounting (required).
- 2–5 years in automotive purchasing, supplier development, or program management (OEM or Tier 1) preferred.
- Proven experience launching engine/transmission or EV powertrain components with on-time PPAP.
- Track record negotiating LTAs, achieving cost-down targets, and stabilizing mass-production supply.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, die casting, welding, assembly, paint, chroming, surface treatments, foaming, SMC, extrusion, SMT).
- Fluent in English; bilingual in Korean or Spanish preferred.
- Certifications (preferred): Lean/Six Sigma, CQI, ISM CPSM, APQP/PPAP training.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills; thrives in fast-paced environments.
