Certified Coder

Certified Medical Coder (AHIMA or AAPC Certified)

Location: St. James, NY 11780
Pay Range: $27-$34/hour

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of medical documentation, CPT, and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding. This role is essential to ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in our coding and reimbursement processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze physician documentation, CPT, and ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis codes.

• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, reimbursement policies, and accreditation standards.

• Assign and enter accurate diagnoses and procedure codes for reimbursement purposes.

• Research and resolve discrepancies or rejected claims from third-party carriers.

• Maintain and monitor various reports and files including IDX account notifications, PK validity errors, TES open encounters, and CLIA renewals.

• Track and process all IDX record requests.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Certification: Must be certified through AHIMA or AAPC (CPC required).

• Education: Associate’s Degree preferred.

  • In lieu of a degree, 5 years of relevant coding experience required.

• Strong working knowledge of current coding requirements and E/M coding standards.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Highly organized and detail-oriented.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
