Salon Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Salon Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced beauty environment, supporting stylists and ensuring exceptional client service. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for the beauty industry, and a willingness to learn and grow within the salon setting. The Salon Assistant will be instrumental in maintaining salon operations, assisting with client needs, and supporting various beauty services.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients warmly and manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments using salon software such as MINDBODY.
• Assist stylists with hair styling, hair extensions, eyelash extensions, nail care, and makeup application as needed.
• Support store management tasks including inventory management and retail sales upselling of hair products, skincare items, and beauty tools.
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in all work areas following proper sanitation protocols.
• Help with color theory consultations and assist during color treatments under stylist supervision.
• Prepare workstations for services, including setting up tools for hair threading, barbering, or other beauty treatments.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and ensuring a positive salon experience.
• Support mentoring of new team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Assist with store management tasks such as retail math calculations and inventory organization to optimize sales.

Skills

• Knowledge of hair styling techniques, including hair extensions, coloring, and straight razor shaving.
• Experience with salon software systems like MINDBODY for appointment scheduling and client management.
• Strong understanding of color theory and sanitation standards within a salon environment.
• Proficiency in cosmetology or barbering is preferred; certification or licensing is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
• Ability to perform retail sales with upselling techniques to enhance client satisfaction and revenue.
• Familiarity with nail care services, eyelash extensions, makeup application, and hair threading is advantageous.
