Formed in 1961 by Joseph J. Zilber, the Zilber Family Foundation is a private independent grantmaking institution dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and neighborhoods. It supports organizations addressing basic needs and personal safety, increasing access to social and economic opportunity, and improving the quality of life in neighborhoods.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Milwaukee-based Program Officer! The Program Officer (PO) is a dynamic and engaged contributor to the team who develops, manages, and evaluates a portfolio of grants and initiatives to fulfill the mission of the Zilber Family Foundation. They are one of the Foundation’s primary liaisons with the nonprofit community, as well as with community, civic, and philanthropic partners. The PO will advance the Foundation’s focus on affordable housing, community economic development, and basic human needs in Milwaukee. The position is hybrid, with minimum of two days per week in the office. The PO reports to the Program Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Milwaukee-based grant portfolio, including idea generation, application review, relationship management, and program evaluation.
- Analyze budgets and nonprofit financials, and demonstrate an understanding of how to use financial information to assess nonprofit health.
- Contribute to the collaborative process of developing goals, objectives, and operational plans for the Foundation and its grant programs.
- Lead, plan, and participate in external events with the goal of uplifting public perception or awareness of grantee partners and Foundation’s goals.
- Establish and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations to engage in continuous learning and enhance ZFF’s effectiveness.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred
- Five years related professional experience and/or training preferred
- Previous nonprofit or foundation experience preferred
- Adept at research, analysis, problem solving, and strategic thinking
