Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) guidelines to ensure confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards
- Document care plans, patient observations, and any incidents thoroughly to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required or preferred
- Experience caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care needs, autism spectrum disorder or hospice care is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow care plans precisely and work collaboratively with healthcare teams
