Position Overview
We are looking for a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Stagehand to support our production team. This hands-on role involves setting up, operating, and dismantling AVL equipment for a variety of live events. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Setup & Teardown: Load, unload, set up, breakdown AVL equipment including speakers, microphones, LED video walls, lighting fixtures, trussing, and staging.
- Cable Management: Lay out, secure, and strike cabling according to industry best practices and safety protocols.
- Rigging Support: Assist with the safe rigging and de-rigging of AVL equipment under the supervision of qualified riggers.
- Maintenance & Inventory: Help maintain and clean equipment; assist with gear inspections and inventory management.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other crew members, technicians, and event staff to ensure smooth setup and flawless event execution.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all company and site-specific safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Documentation: Complete checklists, incident reports, and inventory logs as needed.
- Travel: Be able to commute and travel throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) metropolitan area as required for events.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior stagehand or live production experience is a plus but not required. Training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and adapt in high-pressure or last-minute scenarios.
- Teamwork: Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
- Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event needs.
- Safety Awareness: A proactive and responsible attitude toward workplace and equipment safety.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational training or certifications in AVL, rigging, or related fields are not required, but are a plus.
