Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team and oversee all kitchen operations. This role requires a passionate professional with strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of food safety and management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, inventory control, and ensuring exceptional food quality and service standards across various dining settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, servers, and support personnel to ensure smooth daily operations
- Oversee menu development, planning, and execution to meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Manage food production processes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Control inventory levels, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively
- Coordinate catering events, banquets, and special functions with attention to detail and timely delivery
- Supervise shift management to optimize staffing levels and operational efficiency
- Train staff on food handling, preparation techniques, and customer service protocols
- Monitor kitchen equipment maintenance and cleanliness to ensure a safe working environment
- Collaborate with management on budgeting, staffing schedules, and overall restaurant or hospitality operations
Requirements
- Proven experience in dining environments
- Minimum 10 years of kitchen experience
- Supervising or team management experience within a culinary setting
- Strong background in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and food safety regulations (ServSafe certification is a plus)
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Skilled in inventory management, cost control, and food handling procedures
- Hands-on experience in culinary arts with a focus on quality food preparation and presentation
- Background in restaurant or hospitality management with verifiable work history
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards of service
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in food service operations
