What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Informatics Consultant (Dotmatics) position at Zifo?
We are seeking an experienced Dotmatics Technical & Implementation Consultant to serve as the onsite technical authority for Dotmatics implementations. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, working closely with an offshore project lead while independently owning technical tasks assigned from offshore teams. The consultant will translate complex scientific and business requirements into scalable solutions, ensure high-quality implementations, and support EST-timezone operational needs. While not a project lead, this role carries significant responsibility for solution quality, technical decision-making, and stakeholder confidence.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Dotmatics configuration, customization, and troubleshooting, built through reverse engineering and practical implementation.
- Strong backend and database skills, including:
- Writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
- Developing and maintaining advanced PL/SQL procedures.
- Ability to design and review database structures, including:
- Table design and normalization.
- ERDs, primary keys, and foreign key relationships.
- Making informed data-modeling decisions aligned with functional and performance needs.
- Translate business and scientific requirements into technically sound and scalable solutions.
- Review and validate technical implementations to ensure adherence to best practices and long-term maintainability.
- Act as an onsite technical authority for Dotmatics-related design and implementation decisions as well as EST timezone incidents (assisting the run team lead).
- Capable of independently taking up tasks based on needs and not being dependent on KTs to take up work.
Interpersonal & Collaboration Skills
- Work closely with the offshore lead to ensure alignment on technical design, scope, and delivery expectations.
- Provide technical guidance, reviews, and clarifications to offshore team members to support effective execution.
- Collaborate with SBAs, internal teams, and customer stakeholders to refine and validate requirements.
- Support customer discussions from a technical and solutioning perspective while acknowledging that the offshore lead owns overall customer communication and project delivery.
