What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Operator position at Ziegler CAT?
Ziegler Cat has an opening for a full-time Yard Operator. We are looking for an employee to oversee the equipment entering and leaving the yard, ensure efficient and safe processes are being followed, support customers in their inquiries, and ensure the strong Ziegler brand image in the yard and rental facility.
Responsibilities:
- Ships, receives, and operates equipment in the yard
- Promptly greets and assists customers in the yard
- Cleaning and prepping equipment for rental usage
- Ensures proper documentation of incoming/outgoing equipment
- Maintains a clean and orderly yard that creates an efficient rental operations process
- Maintains grounds including snow removal
- Monitors and maintains fuel and fluid levels for shops and on branch machinery
- Parks equipment in designated areas, according to appearance and guidelines
- Works collaboratively on a team
- Provides assistance to other departments as requested
- Completes responsibilities safely
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 years experience required operating equipment or related duties
- Personal Characteristics: attention to detail, dependable, self-starter, customer-focused, efficient, and team player
- Ability to operate machinery and perform job duties safely required
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Knowledge of Ziegler’s rental equipment
- This role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement
Minimum Physical Requirements:
- Push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
- Lift bulky objects
- Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
- Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 to $34.00
Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:
