About the team:
The Advanced Manufacturing (AME) Team is an exciting team of engineers tasked with industrializing products from paper ideas to fully qualified, functioning machining, assembly and test equipment. Our group, specifically, is part of a larger global AME team responsible for ZF Division CB (Chassis – Brake Controls), with our local team primarily focused on Fenton and Fowlerville, but also extend duties to El-Marques, Mexico as needed. Our role is to imagine, purchase, concept and industrialize new equipment as required for product changes (new product and/or new program needs) or simply new capacity necessities.
What you can look forward to as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer:
- For assigned project(s), shall be responsible for the technical direction, completion, and supervision of tasks necessary for the achievement of manufacturing engineering requirements and solutions related to the design, development and installation of production equipment, processes, and documentation to achieve a flawless launch.
- Primarily an assembly focus to start – with a range of projects potentially from Sub-Assemblies to targeted final assembly specialties.
- Job role often described as a technical program manager, engineer, technical writer, problem solver, all in one.
- Wide variety of interfaces to different levels of the organization and externally, as well to customers and supply base (sales, quote/concept engineers, program managers, build).
- Participate in strategic planning efforts related to capital expenditures.
- Up to 20% travel – occasionally.
Your Profile as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or similar with applicable experience.
- Team oriented, strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- 3 years of experience as a Process Engineer.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including statistical analysis.
- Good working knowledge of general braking products (preferred).
- Proficient in AutoCAD (2D or 3D) products (preferred).
- Working knowledge of basic automation technology and programming/controls experience (preferred).
