Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Engineer role based in Erie, PA. The Engineer will design and develop custom metal fabrication solutions, prepare detailed drawings and specifications, and ensure designs comply with ASME and other applicable standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with customers to translate project requirements into engineering solutions, performing calculations and analyses, and supporting the manufacturing team during fabrication and assembly. The Engineer will participate in design reviews, troubleshoot technical issues on the shop floor, and contribute to continuous improvement of processes, quality, and safety. The role also involves documentation of engineering work, coordination with project managers, and occasional support for estimating and proposal development.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform mechanical design and analysis for custom metal fabrication, including familiarity with ASME standards and related codes.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) for creating 2D drawings and 3D models and preparing fabrication-ready documentation.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality, and project management) and communicating technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills for “one of a kind” engineering challenges in research, energy, power generation, or related industries.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, forming, and assembly, and the ability to design for manufacturability and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Erie, PA, including time spent in office, shop, and production areas while following all safety practices.
- Prior experience in custom fabrication or pressure vessel, structural, or industrial equipment design is beneficial.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate technical records.
