Job Title: Traffic Executive (Ejecutivo de Tráfico Aduanal)

Position Summary
The Traffic Executive is responsible for coordinating and managing import and export shipments through Mexican Customs. This role ensures the accurate preparation and processing of pedimentos, compliance with Mexican customs regulations, and effective communication with clients, customs authorities, and internal departments to facilitate timely cargo clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and process pedimentos (import/export entries) in accordance with Mexican Customs Law and applicable regulations.
- Classify merchandise using the appropriate Tariff Schedule (TIGIE) codes.
- Ensure compliance with SAT, customs regulations, non-tariff regulations and restrictions (RRNA), NOM requirements, and other applicable government agencies.
- Coordinate documentation with clients, freight forwarders, carriers, and warehouses.
- Verify commercial invoices, certificates of origin, packing lists, bills of lading/air waybills, and other supporting documentation.
- Maintain direct communication with clients to:
- Request required documentation
- Provide status updates on shipments
- Resolve documentation discrepancies
- Offer guidance regarding customs requirements
- Monitor shipment status to ensure on-time clearance and delivery.
- Calculate duties, taxes, and applicable fees.
- Follow up on red channel inspections (reconocimientos aduaneros) and resolve customs holds.
- Maintain organized digital and physical shipment files.
- Provide post-clearance support, including corrections (rectifications) when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and service KPIs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Customs Administration, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Mexican Customs Law, SAT regulations, and import/export procedures.
- Experience elaborating pedimentos in customs software (SLAM systems).
- Knowledge of tariff classification and non-tariff regulations.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
