Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grounds Maintenance Specialist to uphold the beauty, safety, and functionality of our retirement community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in landscape and grounds care, with expertise in operating a variety of tools and machinery.
As a Grounds Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible not only for maintaining lawns, gardens, hardscapes, and trees, but also for performing general maintenance repairs both outdoors and indoors. This includes repairing equipment, fixtures, and structures throughout the community to ensure all areas—inside and out—remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities
- Maintain campus grounds, including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, and watering lawns, flower beds, and shrubs.
- Plan design and maintain care for flowers, trees, and shrubs to enhance the beauty of the community.
- ·Remove leaves, debris, and trash from walkways, parking lots, and outdoor common areas.
- Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting walkways, and raking leaves.
- Checking irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering schedules and repairs as needed.
- Apply fertilizers and chemical applications as appropriate for upkeep of lawn and gardens.
- Inspect outdoor furniture, signage, and fixtures, reporting any necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist in minor maintenance tasks such as painting fences, repairing pathways, and maintaining community amenities.
- Ensure that all work is performed safely and complies with community standards and regulations.
- As a member of the Maintenance Department, complete other routine grounds and facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience operating landscaping equipment and power tools.
- Strong background in lawn care, landscape maintenance, and gardening practices.
- Familiarity with construction techniques related to outdoor projects and hardscape installation.
- Knowledge of tree care, including trimming, pruning, and health assessment.
- Experience with irrigation systems installation and maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of horticulture principles to support plant health and landscape design.
