Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. General Summary:
The OTP CDCA is responsible for providing initiation and engagement support services to ensure success for clients in the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) at Zepf Center using a trauma-informed, client-centered, and evidence based harm-reduction approach. This role will assist clients, often in the early stages of their recovery journey by offering support, counseling, and consistent engagement. The CDCA will also connect clients to additional support services, including Case Management and relevant Wellness or Substance Use Disorder (SUD) groups. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, attentiveness, and the ability to meet the significant needs of clients navigating the complexities of opioid treatment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Initiation & Engagement: Provide initiation and engagement services to clients beginning treatment in the OTP, ensuring their seamless entry into the program and consistent engagement.
- Ongoing Support: Offer continuous support and encouragement to clients throughout their treatment, helping to sustain their commitment to recovery.
- Client-Centered Care: Create and maintain a supportive, trauma-informed, and client-centered environment that integrates evidence-based harm-reduction counseling.
- Positive Work Environment: Maintain a calm, cooperative attitude in all professional interactions, contributing to a positive, supportive environment for patients and colleagues.
- Motivational Techniques: Apply motivational interviewing and other techniques to encourage clients in their treatment journey and help them achieve their recovery goals.
- Treatment Services: Provide high-quality Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment, ensuring interventions comply with program and agency guidelines.
- Psychoeducation & Counseling: Deliver basic SUD education and counseling, fostering clients' understanding of recovery and guiding them toward achieving lasting wellness within scope of practice to licensure.
- Documentation & Reporting: Accurately complete required documentation, including ISP reviews, ASAM assessments, safety plans, relapse prevention plans, and progress notes.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the treatment team to ensure integrated care and optimal recovery outcomes for clients.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain professional behavior in interactions with clients, staff, and other departments, promoting a respectful and supportive environment.
- Ethical Standards: Adhere to the OCDPB’s Code of Ethics for Chemical Dependency Professionals in all aspects of work and community involvement.
- Professional Development: Keep credentials and licensure up-to-date, attending required trainings and meetings to maintain professional competencies.

- Training: Maintain CPR certification, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI).

Position Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED required
Licensure and Certification
- Must have Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (OCDPB)
Additional Certifications
- CPR and First Aid trained.
- Crisis intervention (CPI) certified.
Valid Driver's License
- A valid driver's license is required for the position.
- Those eligible to drive company vehicles must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage as defined by the agency commercial insurance carrier. Those who drive personal vehicles in the course of business must be able to provide proof of insurance.
