Position Overview
Montgomery County Police is seeking a Media Specialist to provide video production services in support of the Department's Public Information Office (PIO). This role will be integrated into a small Audio/Visual team and will work closely with technical staff and, on occasion, PIO personnel. The ideal candidate is a hands-on video professional with strong coordination skills, technical production capability, and the ability to manage projects from planning through final release.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
The Media Specialist will work as part of a small Audio/Visual team that collaborates to cover all roles required for production. There may be times when the Contractor contributes to planning but is not directly involved in filming for a specific episode/event.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate video shoots with sworn and unsworn staff, PIO, and IMTD technical teams
- Produce, film, and edit video content for public-facing communications
- Provide project management support for video shoots, podcasts, and documentary-style content
- Coordinate resources required for recordings, including scheduling, blocking time, and communicating plans to stakeholders
- Manage the approval process for release of completed videos, podcasts, or episodes
- Maintain video equipment and ensure readiness for use
- Provide lighting and sound support during recordings and shoots
- Make recommendations to the Deputy Director and Director of Information Management and Technology regarding procurement of additional video equipment
- Train centralized and decentralized support staff across the organization as needed
- Collaborate as part of a team, including filling in different roles during shoots when required
- This position requires flexible scheduling based on operational demand and planned activities.
- Weekly workload may vary (some weeks heavy, others light).
- Nights and weekends may be required for certain events; these are exceptions rather than the norm.
- Contractor must be able to adjust schedules based on participant availability and production timelines.
