Position Title: Regulatory Compliance Specialist

Department: Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S)

Reports To: EH&S Manager

Zenex International is an established but growing manufacturer and distributor of high-quality professional grade industrial and institutional chemical products. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist supports regulatory compliance activities for a high-volume portfolio of chemical and aerosol products. This role is responsible for the accurate creation, maintenance, and management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labeling, and regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. This is a detail-oriented, execution-focused role suited for a professional with experience in hazard communication and chemical regulatory compliance. This role offers the opportunity to expand into broader regulatory or EH&S responsibilities over time, including deeper involvement in compliance strategy and regulatory interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Author, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) of finished goods and raw materials in compliance with GHS standards.
  • Creation of Ingredient Disclosure Forms (IDF) and Product Datasheets (PDS).
  • Outline necessary product label changes and communicate them effectively to the team of graphic designers in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve product labels and promotional materials for compliance with several regulatory systems as well as for grammar and content.
  • Research, interpret, and apply applicable regulations including OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, CARB, TSCA, REACH, Proposition 65, consumer product regulations, and other applicable requirements.
  • Evaluate raw materials and finished products for regulatory compliance, restricted substances, chemicals of concern, VOC requirements, and customer-specific requirements.


Data & Document Management:

  • Manage large volumes of product and raw material data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Maintain regulatory systems, databases, and document control processes.
  • Ensure proper version control and traceability of compliance documents.


Transportation & Classification:

  • Assist with DOT hazard classifications for shipping.
  • Support preparation of required hazardous materials documentation.


Cross-Functional Support:

  • Respond to internal and customer requests for SDS and regulatory documentation, including creation of private label customer SDS’s.
  • Partner with EH&S and Operations to support compliance requirements.
  • Support safety-related initiatives, reporting, and audits.


Professional Development:

  • Maintain awareness of new regulations, industry standards, and emerging compliance needs.
  • Participate in professional organizations, continuing education, and technical training.
  • Develop knowledge of aerosol manufacturing requirements, air quality regulations, NFPA codes, ISO 9001 systems, PSM awareness, environmental programs, and chemical management initiatives.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field


Experience:

  • Two to three years of experience in regulatory compliance related field
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or related industry preferred.
  • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with specific regulatory experience with aerosol type products.
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with hands-on-regulatory compliance experience in lieu of education credentials.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Great attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organizational and procedural work habits.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday, day shift position.

Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
