We're hiring a Dog Handler!
This role will effectively support the day-to-day dog daycare & day training operations of an active dog training facility. This is NOT your free-for-all all dog daycare.
We need you to bring your passion for dogs and their people, friendly and high attention to detail to self that is NOT afraid to pick up dog poop to support our daycare/enrichment/day training program. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about dog behavior and care.
You will perform various dog handling and client care tasks in this role, including managing playgroups of dogs with a 10:1 ratio, interacting with dogs according to our educational standard and their training programs, all while ensuring an exceptional client experience during drop off and pick up time. You'll also be spot-cleaning throughout the day, so there is no need to apply if animal messes freak you out. You'll also assist our head trainers with various dog handling/training tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor dogs in the daycare facility to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized environment, including regularly cleaning areas and equipment.
- Engage with dogs in a positive and interactive manner.
- Facilitate playtime and socialization between dogs of different sizes and temperaments.
- Provide one-on-one time with assigned dogs.
- Implement enrichment activities such as games, puzzles, and agility exercises to keep dogs mentally and physically active during their time spent at the facility.
- Interact with dog owners, providing updates on their pets and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Ensure a positive customer experience by being friendly and professional.
- Ensure an exceptional experience from drop off to check out.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with dogs in a daycare, kennel, or similar environment is highly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of dog behavior, body language, and breed characteristics.
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments with confidence and patience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of basic canine first aid and CPR is a plus.
- Physical fitness and stamina, as this role involves standing, walking, and lifting.
