Summary

This teacher helps students understand mathematical structures, conjecture and verify solutions, think hypothetically and comprehend cause and effect.
Responsibilities
- Teach district approved curriculum.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional material and provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.
- Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. For the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Current Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate Math endorsement is required.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical procedures and government regulations. Adhere to all local, state and national guidelines.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
- Must demonstrate team building skills and the ability to work with students, faculty and staff, and other leaders in the district.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Must have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently.
