Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and risk assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and first aid.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, or OSHA 10-hour General Industry training.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting regular safety inspections and audits throughout the manufacturing plant to identify potential risks and hazards.
  • Support the safety team in investigating incidents and near-misses, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Help develop and distribute safety communication materials, including posters, newsletters, and training content.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to learn about compliance requirements and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety activities, inspections, and training attendance to ensure regulatory compliance.

Skills:

The required skills such as attention to detail and communication are essential for accurately identifying hazards and effectively conveying safety information to team members. The intern will use their foundational knowledge of OSHA regulations to assist in compliance audits and incident investigations.
