Position Overview
The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for fire alarm and fire protection projects. This individual will review project documentation, develop project pricing, support budgeting and bidding efforts, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful project planning and execution.
The ideal candidate will have experience estimating fire alarm systems or related electrical and low-voltage construction projects, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates for fire alarm and fire protection system projects.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Develop project pricing, budgets, and competitive bid proposals.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze labor, equipment, and material costs.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Evaluate project schedules and assist in preconstruction planning.
- Support the preparation and presentation of estimate proposals.
- Maintain estimating documentation and historical cost data.
- Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure successful project handoffs.
- Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in fire protection systems design, estimating, or a related construction, electrical, or electronic systems field.
- Experience reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar construction management and estimating software.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Fire Alarm Systems estimating experience.
- Previous construction project management experience.
- NICET Certification(s) are highly desirable.
- Experience with commercial fire alarm and life safety systems.
- Knowledge of construction bidding, budgeting, and preconstruction processes.
