Role Description
The Grant Writer is a remote contract role responsible for researching, developing, and writing grant proposals that support the Zankza Project’s programs and initiatives for Deaf artists and creatives. Day-to-day tasks include identifying prospective funding opportunities, reviewing eligibility requirements, and aligning proposals with funder priorities and organizational goals. The role involves drafting clear, compelling narratives, preparing budgets and supporting documentation, and coordinating with program staff to gather data and impact stories. The Grant Writer will manage submission timelines, track deadlines and reporting requirements, and maintain accurate records of proposals, awards, and outcomes. The contractor may also assist with donor communications, impact reports, and occasional content for fundraising campaigns.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated grant writing experience, including researching funders, crafting proposals, and managing submission timelines.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or arts administration, ideally within Deaf, disability, or accessibility-focused communities.
- Ability to analyze funding requirements, interpret guidelines, and align proposals with organizational mission and program objectives.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, including tracking multiple deadlines and maintaining detailed records.
- Comfort working remotely, with reliable internet access and proficiency in common productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, shared drives).
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work respectfully with Deaf artists and team members; familiarity with Deaf culture or sign languages is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Communications, English, Nonprofit Management, or similar) or equivalent professional experience.
