General Description
Roanoke County is seeking interns to utilize academic knowledge and skills to perform professional work within Roanoke County. These positions are intended for educational and training purposes that benefit the employee as well as the County. Specific tasks and projects will be established that align with the intern’s field of study/area of interest. Interns will shadow, assist and collaborate with Parks, Recreation & Tourism staff. Work is performed under senior staff or County supervision reasonable to assignments. Successful candidate must provide all school paperwork requirements to obtain appropriate credit. All interested applicants must comply with Roanoke County requirements.
Education
Required: Current High School Junior or Senior
Preferred: High School Diploma; current college student with coursework in related field of study to their internship opportunity

Certifications/ Licenses
Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and have a good driving record.

Additional Requirements
Successful applicant must not have been convicted of any criminal offenses and will undergo a background investigation to determine suitability for the position. May be subject to DMV driving record review as required by amount of work-related driving, specified by support responsibilities. Must also be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description.

- Shift Hours and/or Days Worked: Monday-Friday, days with some nights and weekends.
- Hours Required for this position: 40 hours a week for 14 weeks
- Specific tasks and responsibilities are outlined as conditions of the internship, as assigned by the department.
- Evaluation of job activities and corresponding academic relationships are provided by the department.
- Work with Supervisor/Manager, other project stakeholders, and team members to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Generate and present status updates to stakeholders.
- Actively participate within an interactive office environment.
- Perform assigned administrative documentation and reporting tasks.
- May assist with all project logistics including meeting scheduling, locations, resources and required materials.
- Monitor, document and report on assigned project task completion and related risk identification
