Essential functions
Customer Engagement & Sales Leadership
- Provide support on plant care, landscaping, lawn products, and natural gardening methods
- Deliver outstanding customer service and solution-based selling
- Assist customers in selecting the right plants, soils, fertilizers, pest control, and tools for their specific needs
Green Goods Maintenance
- Under the direction of department and store leadership, ensure the health and care of plants, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, and pest management
- Assist in the daily upkeep of garden center displays and green goods areas
Working Conditions:
Work environment: The work will be indoors and outdoors in a retail environment with plants, chemicals, dirt and live animals. Must be comfortable handling these products.
Physical demands: Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Position type and expected hours of work: This is a seasonal position beginning in April and ending sometime between July 1 and September 1. Many seasonal employees are retained into permanent positions at the conclusion of their seasonal assignment. Full-time or part-time: schedules depend on each store staffing. Days and hours of work vary and evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands.

Required qualifications:
- Strong passion and knowledge of plants, gardening, and natural lawn care
- Previous retail or garden center experience preferred
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods
- Weekend and evening availability is required
Preferred education and experience:
- 1 year of customer service experience in retail environment
- Experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) to ensure accuracy in recording sales and handling monetary transactions
