What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at Zampell?
Company Background
J.C. Zampell Construction is a growing construction and facility management company servicing commercial and industrial clients across New England. We have strong operational footing, experienced project managers, and a track record clients trust. What we need now is a hunter — someone to plant our flag in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and own those markets.
Are you the person who opens doors others can’t? Do you thrive on the hunt for new business and get restless when you’re not building your pipeline? If you’ve been capped out in your current role or feel like the company around you isn’t growing fast enough to match your ambition, we should talk.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a new business development role. You will be building your book from the ground up — that’s not a warning, it’s the opportunity. You’ll have the backing of an experienced operations team and a company with the capacity to deliver, so every deal you close sticks.
- Hunt and develop new client relationships with contractors, developers, property managers, architects, and engineers across MA and NH
- Run your own pipeline — from cold outreach and site visits to proposal and close
- Conduct client meetings and presentations, assessing needs and bringing tailored solutions
- Coordinate with our estimating and project management teams to build winning proposals
- Negotiate and close contracts to meet or exceed aggressive but achievable sales targets
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities throughout New England
- Stay sharp on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities in the region
Who We’re Looking For
We don’t need someone to maintain accounts. We need someone who wakes up thinking about what’s next. Specifically:
- 3 years of sales experience in construction services, facility management, building materials, or a closely related field
- A genuine hunter mentality — you’re energized by prospecting, not drained by it
- Real understanding of construction processes, project lifecycles, and how deals get done in this industry
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills — you can work a room and close a boardroom
- Self-directed and organized enough to manage a full pipeline without hand-holding
- Comfortable with CRM tools and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to be in-market regularly across MA and NH
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred — but equivalent experience and a track record of results matters more to us.
Why Join Us
- Strong $80,000–$90,000 base salary plus performance-based commission and profit sharing — your total comp grows with your results
- Ramp period with a guaranteed draw so you can build your pipeline without the pressure of a cold start
- Established operations team and project management depth behind every deal you close
- A company that’s actively growing and investing in sales — not cutting
- MA and NH territory with strong demand and real runway for the right person
- Leadership that gets out of your way and lets you sell
To Apply
- Send your resume along with a brief note on a deal or client relationship you built from scratch. We’re not looking for a cover letter — just tell us what you’ve sold and who you sold it to.
