Duties
- Assist with the planting, watering, pruning, and general care of nursery plants using appropriate horticultural techniques
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for various plant types
- Use hand tools and mechanical equipment safely for planting, soil preparation, and landscape maintenance
- Identify different plant species and monitor plant health to detect pests or diseases early
- Support greenhouse operations by managing plant propagation, transplanting seedlings, and maintaining climate controls
- Handle heavy lifting of soil bags, plants, and equipment to support daily nursery activities
- Maintain accurate inventory records of plants, tools, and supplies; assist with stock organization in the warehouse
Qualifications
- Growing experience or background in horticulture, gardening, or landscaping preferred
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, greenhouse operations, lawn care, farming, or agriculture is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge related to garden tools and equipment operation is a plus
- Ability to identify various plants and understand basic plant health needs
- Comfortable performing outdoor work in varying weather conditions with physical stamina for heavy lifting
- Basic math skills for measuring soil amendments or calculating quantities of supplies
- Strong attention to detail, safety awareness when using hand tools or machinery, and a proactive attitude toward learning new skills
