Instrumentation Calibration Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Instrument Calibration and Valve Specialist to support instrumentation calibration, valve service, and recurring preventative maintenance programs for customer facilities throughout New England. This role combines hands-on technical service with planning, documentation, customer coordination, estimating, and procedure development. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to work independently while supporting customers, technicians, supervisors, and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and document instrumentation calibration according to company procedures and customer requirements.
• Calibrate and maintain various types of process instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, conductivity, and level to guarantee accurate measurements and reliable operation.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as ohmmeters, calibrators, and other tools to perform calibration tasks on various sensors and instrumentation devices.
• Perform valve service, seal replacements, and related equipment maintenance for customer facilities.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, Pipe and Instrument Drawings (P&ID’s), and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
• Estimate and quote calibration and valve service work, including labor, materials, tooling, and project execution needs.
• Schedule and develop execution plans for calibration and valve service projects, including resourcing, materials, tools, authorizations, and customer coordination.
• Collaborate with customers to establish recurring calibration and valve preventative maintenance schedules, and proactively coordinate service before upcoming intervals.
• Use customer valve inventory lists, field assessments, P&ID’s, HMI screens, and technical documentation to identify valve specifications, instrumentation requirements, and project execution needs.
• Coordinate with procurement to obtain proper seal kits, rebuild kits, calibration supplies, and other required materials for successful execution.
• Maintain, update, and help author written calibration procedures as equipment, technologies, and industry practices evolve.
• Apply LOTO and process knowledge to safely isolate systems before calibration, valve service, commissioning, troubleshooting, or maintenance work.

Requirements

• Proven experience in instrumentation calibration, valve service, industrial maintenance, or a closely related technical field.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of, and adherence to, job site safety and electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, local codes).
• Strong understanding of calibration procedures, valve maintenance, seal replacement, and instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Ability to read complex schematics and technical drawings accurately.
• Hands-on experience with calibration techniques for sensors, measurement instruments, and control devices in industrial settings.
• Familiarity with LOTO procedures, process isolation, job site safety expectations, and customer facility requirements.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills combined with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
• Customer service mindset with the ability to communicate technical information clearly across teams or client sites.
• High standard of integrity, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various manufacturing or processing environments, including at heights when required.
• Willingness to work overtime and paid travel as requested.

Pay: $32.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
