What are the responsibilities and job description for the Credit Analyst – Portfolio Management - Structured Invesments position at ZAIS Group?
ZAIS Group is interested in hiring a full time Analyst to work with our investment team in our New Jersey headquarters. This position will be focused on mortgage and asset backed (RMBS/ABS) sectors. Our headquarters is in Holmdel, NJ and this is a hybrid role, requiring in person, in office work 3 days each week.
Candidates should have an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related discipline, and 1-2 years of experience working in financial markets and structured finance or a related field. A desire to pursue the CFA is a plus. This position will involve working in a fluid environment where rapid response and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously are often required.
About the Position
The Credit Analyst will:
- Gain exposure to the US Mortgage/Asset Backed Securities Markets by being involved in credit analysis of assets, financing and securitization of assets, surveillance, and generation of new investment ideas
- Help manage existing investments through timely market surveillance using market research and servicer reported data
- Review bid lists, and sales on new issue and secondary transactions to evaluate and identify investment opportunities.
- Track asset performance data and refresh internal sector credit forecast
- Interface with firm's marketing and risk departments for IR and reporting
- Model cashflows for investments and evaluate data to determine effect of various macro drivers affecting cashflows.
- Present results and analysis to Portfolio Manager and team

- Strong analytical, quantitative problem-solving, critical thinking skills and ability to understand complex statistical models.

- Highly organized; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience modeling in financial markets
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office365: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Knowledge of Python and AI tools is a significant plus.
