Position Overview:
The CAD Technician will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role is vital to our design and project development process, supporting engineers and project managers with precise and accurate drawings for a variety of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1) This individual will primarily be responsible for: designing and producing sets of plans for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential Land Development projects: implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards
2) Develop and revise CAD drawings, layouts, and schematics from engineer-provided specifications and sketches
3) Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project requirements
4) Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other team members
5) Organize and maintain drawing files and related documentation
6) Assist in reviewing plans and making necessary adjustments to resolve design challenges
7) Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
8) Maintain awareness of project timelines and contribute to timely delivery of design milestones
9) Uses various computer graphics or office application software to complete charts, graphs, drawings, and base maps dealing with design, construction, alteration and maintenance
10) Conducts field investigations, compiles and reviews maps and profiles structural/architectural/civil drawings to complete drawings and/or assist engineers
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD technology, or related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a CAD Technician in an engineering environment
- Advanced in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (other discipline-specific software is a plus)
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Professional attitude, self-starter, strong work ethic, interpersonal communication skills/writing skills
- Desire to learn and continue learning
