What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Product Manager position at ZAGG?
Senior Product Manager
Location: On-site
The Senior / Principal Product Manager will own the strategy, roadmap, development, and in-market performance of a portfolio of consumer electronic products at ZAGG. This role is responsible for driving product success through rigorous market insight, technical coordination, and cross-functional execution—from concept validation through product launch and beyond. The Product Manager will collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Sourcing teams (including Asia-based partners) to ensure all products are launched on time, on budget, and with best-in-class quality. They will also be responsible for reporting key product performance indicators, executing lifecycle improvements, and leading efforts to reduce product development cycle times.
Responsibilities:
Roadmap Ownership & Product Strategy
Own and maintain the 12 to 24-month product roadmap for assigned category (e.g., power banks, wireless charging), updated quarterly and shared with VP of Strategy & Growth, Product leadership, and cross-functional SLT.
Conduct deep competitive benchmarking (feature, pricing, reviews) quarterly and use findings to drive roadmap decisions.
Build business cases for all new product concepts, including TAM/SAM sizing, margin structure, revenue potential, and estimated payback period.
Consumer Insight & Product Definition
Conduct primary research (qual & quant) at least twice per year: surveys, focus groups, or in-home testing, in collaboration with Insights/Brand.
Translate consumer needs into clear product briefs (PRDs), including problem statements, feature set, target price point, design considerations, and differentiation rationale.
Maintain and update PRDs in the central product tracker, review with leadership during product reviews.
Development & Cross-functional Execution
Drive product launches in concert with Engineering, Operations, Go to Market, PR, and other Product teams
Lead weekly product development check-ins with Industrial Design, Engineering, Sourcing, and Ops to track progress from concept to production sample.
Coordinate with Asia-based sourcing teams to ensure DFM, tooling readiness, and critical path alignment — including late-night calls as needed.
Review and approve pre-production samples; consolidate feedback from Creative, Sales, and QA for mass production readiness.
Go-to-Market Readiness
Collaborate with Marketing and Digital teams to drive content inputs for packaging, QSG/manuals, and retail/Amazon PDPs
Provide product training docs and talking points for Sales and Customer Support
Conduct SKU setup in internal systems (NetSuite, PIM) and ensure BOMs and pricing are finalized and accurate.
Performance Tracking & Lifecycle Management
Monitor sales performance (sell-in/sell-through) post-launch; report topline trends through periodic product performance decks.
Track and address quality or CS issues post-launch and coordinate with Asia based teams or QA/Customer Care to resolve
Proactively prune or revise underperforming SKUs quarterly — including proposing EOL plans, pricing updates, or spec revisions.
Stakeholder & Leadership Engagement
Present roadmap and product updates monthly to Product and cross-functional leadership.
Serve as primary liaison to Sales and Channel Marketing for your product lines — meet bi-weekly to review retailer requests, margin constraints, and assortment asks.
Partner with Finance to update product P&Ls and margin projections at each stage gate (e.g., Concept, DFM, Production).
