Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

ZACK Group is currently seeking experienced, compassionate, and safety-focused Psychiatric Registered Nurses (RNs) for opportunities within a high-security forensic psychiatric facility near Osawatomie, Kansas. This position is ideal for nurses who thrive in structured environments and have experience working with patients requiring acute behavioral health, psychiatric, or forensic mental health services.

The ideal candidate will possess a current Kansas RN license (or Compact RN license), have at least one year of recent nursing experience, and demonstrate strong clinical judgment, de-escalation skills, and the ability to maintain safety in a secure treatment setting.

Requirements

• Current RN license in Kansas or Compact State License
• Minimum of one (1) year recent RN experience required
• Psychiatric, Behavioral Health, Corrections or Emergency Room experience preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Current resume demonstrating relevant nursing experience
• Two professional leadership references
• Strong assessment, communication, and crisis intervention skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor psychiatric patients for changes in mental and physical status
• Administer medications, treatments, and injections in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols
• Observe, document, and report patient behaviors, symptoms, and responses to treatment
• Utilize therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral health crises
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and interdisciplinary treatment teams
• Maintain a safe and secure therapeutic environment while adhering to facility security procedures
• Accurately complete electronic medical records and required documentation
• Respond appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and behavioral incidents
• Participate in treatment planning, patient education, and discharge preparation when applicable
• Follow all infection control, safety, and security policies within the facility
