What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Zaciewski Dental?
We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental team. In this role, you will support our dentists and hygienists by preparing treatment rooms, assisting chairside during procedures, managing patient comfort, and handling essential clinic upkeep and infection control.
- Chairside Assisting: Pass instruments, mix dental materials, and provide suction and visibility support during exams, fillings, crowns, and extractions.
- Patient Care & Comfort: Greet and seat patients, review health histories, explain procedures, and provide post-treatment care instructions.
- Radiography: Take digital dental X-rays (bitewings, periapicals, panoramic) while strictly following radiation safety protocols.
- Sterilization & Infection Control: Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments, handpieces, and operatories according to OSHA and state guidelines.
- Records & Administration: Chart patient treatment notes accurately and assist with scheduling or lab case tracking.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock treatment room supplies, order materials, and maintain office emergency kits.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting Program or certificate program is preferred but not required.
- Certifications & Licensing:
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- State-required credentials or certification in dental radiography (X-ray) and infection control.
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credentials preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient-service skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced clinical environment.
