The Monarch San Antonio - A Legacy of Service and Sophistication

The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Summary

The On Call Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional, customized massage experiences that reflect the spa’s luxury standards and wellness philosophy. This role requires advanced technical skill, intuitive guest care, and a commitment to service excellence. Therapists serve as ambassadors of the spa, creating restorative experiences that exceed guest expectations while maintaining professionalism, discretion, and warmth.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

• Deliver consistent, high-quality massage services aligned with the spa menu and brand standards
• Conduct thorough guest consultations to personalize each treatment
• Educate guests on services, enhancements, and home-care recommendations
• Maintain a calm, welcoming presence before, during, and after treatments

Technical & Professional Skills

• Perform a variety of massage modalities (e.g., Swedish, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Sports, Hot Stone, etc.)
• Maintain proper body mechanics and self-care practices
• Accurately document guest preferences and treatment notes
• Adhere to all state licensing requirements and sanitation standards
• Prepare treatment rooms to spa standards (sanitation, ambiance, supplies)
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment rooms and shared spaces
• Support spa operations through opening/closing duties as assigned
• Collaborate respectfully with spa colleagues, leadership, and hotel departments

Revenue & Brand Support

• Recommend enhancements and retail products in a consultative manner
• Support spa promotions and seasonal offerings
• Contribute to guest retention through memorable, personalized service
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Current Texas Massage Therapy License
• Minimum 2–4 years experience in a luxury spa, resort, or high-end wellness environment (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage techniques
• Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding work
• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
• Ability to work varied shifts based on business needs
