The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. Position Summary
The Executive Steward is responsible for overseeing all stewarding operations within the hotel, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards, maintaining kitchen and banquet cleanliness, and leading a team of stewards to support all food and beverage outlets. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and attention to detail to uphold the hotel’s luxury standards.
Essential Functions
- Lead, supervise, and train the stewarding team to ensure smooth and efficient operations in all kitchen and banquet areas.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in kitchens, storage areas, dishwashing areas, and employee dining facilities.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware, ensuring proper maintenance and functionality.
- Implement and enforce health, safety, and hygiene policies in compliance with hotel standards and local regulations.
- Coordinate with culinary, banquet, and food & beverage teams to support seamless service during high-volume events.
- Oversee waste management, inventory control, and stock rotation of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and kitchen equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchens, storage areas, and stewarding operations to ensure compliance with SOPs and 5-star standards.
- Assist in budget management, cost control, and optimizing resources within the stewarding department.
- Foster a positive work environment, motivate the team, and ensure professional conduct at all times.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Steward, Chief Steward, or Executive Steward in luxury hotels or high-volume establishments.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, cleaning standards, hygiene regulations, and equipment maintenance.
- Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in hospitality.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Food Handler Certification Required
