Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Do
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will:
- Serve as the technical authority for structural engineering, providing oversight on complex and high-risk designs
- Lead engineering standards, best practices, and design consistency across projects
- Review and approve advanced deliverables including calculations, models, reports, and technical studies
- Provide strategic input during FEL/FEED, design development, and execution planning
- Mentor and develop engineers, supporting technical growth across the organization
- Interface with clients, leadership, and project teams as a trusted advisor
- Lead resolution of complex engineering challenges and non-standard design conditions
- Ensure compliance with codes, safety requirements, and quality standards
- Oversee constructability, material selection, and cost-effective design solutions
- Support field activities including site walkdowns, construction support, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate across disciplines to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality project delivery
QUALIFICATIONS
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 15 years of structural engineering experience in Power or Industrial projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Strong expertise in structural steel, reinforced concrete, and foundations
- Demonstrated experience in EPC or design-build environments
- Proven ability to lead complex technical decisions and mentor engineers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Structural Engineer (SE) license
- Experience as Engineer of Record on large capital projects
- Proficiency with STAAD, RISA, Enercalc, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Strong understanding of risk, constructability, and execution strategy
